Cupuacu Powder - 100g (Raw, Organic)
Cupuacu (pronounced coo-pwah-sue), belongs to the sterculiaceae family and to the same genus of cacao, the cupuaçu tree (Theobrama grandiflorum) is a medium-sized tree (3-6m height), native of the Amazon. Its branches are long and thick, but flexible. Its leaves, very big, can reach 50cm of length. Its flowers, of a dark-red color, blossom on the branches and are displayed in composed clusters.
Relatively unknown in most of the world, it has been used for hundreds of years in native Brazil for its extraordinary health benefits. In the rainforest, both people and animals alike have consumed the Cupuacu fruit which looks like a large melon. Our Cupuacu powder is freeze dried
The white pulp of the cupuaçu is uniquely fragrant (described as a mix of chocolate, melon & pineapple), and contains theacrine (1,3,7,9-tetramethyluric acid) instead of xanthines (caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline) that are found in cacao. Although not much is needed to enjoy the colour taste, it does not have the same stimulating effect as cacao. This tasty fruit contains at least nine other antioxidants, including vitamins C and A. It is also rich in Vitamins B1, B2, & B3 (Niacin), as well as essential fatty acids, amino acids, calcium & iron.
How to use: similar to cocoa and cacao powder, in desserts, juices, smoothies, baking, sauces, mousse, puddings.
