Black rice, also called forbidden rice or emperor's rice, is known for its high levels of antioxidants and superior nutritional value compared to other rice. Forbidden rice was known to be reserved for the Chinese emperor to ensure his health and longevity, and it was forbidden to anyone else - hence it's name.

Our Organic Ancient Black Rice is a dark short-grain that turns into a deep dark purple color once cooked. Black rice is the healthiest of any rice on the market and contains anthocyanins which accounts for its dark color and high antioxidant levels.

Black rice follows the normal 2:1 ratio when cooking.

First time using this rice, cooks up nicely, very tasty, love the color. I mix it with Long Grain Basmati Rice, great combination.
