Description

The Biosta™ Sprouter is an easy to use sprouting system for making a variety of nutritious sprouts right in the kitchen.

The Biosta™ Sprouter has three nesting 7-3/4" diameter sprouting trays, a water collection tray and a lid. Using the sprouter is simplicity in itself.

First insert the red drainage caps in each tray. Then cover the ribbed surface of each tray with a thin layer of seeds. Next pour approximately 1 pint of warm water into the top tray. The unique design allows the trays to successively drain into one another - leaving approximately 1-2 tablespoons of water in the ribbed bottoms of each tray. This is just sufficient to produce the proper humidity for quick germination.

For small seeds such as alfalfa, cress or mustard you only need to re-water once in 4 days; You can purchase a variety of seeds from Upaya Naturals.

Depending on room temperature and lighting conditions your sprouts should be ready in between 3 and 5 days after initial watering. Not only are the sprouts you make guaranteed fresh (because you germinated them) but they are considerably more economical than buying them at the supermarket.

The Biosta™ Sprouter comes with complete instructions and several recipes.

1 of 5 My seeds rot just as they are starting to sprout January 19, 2021
Reviewer: Shy-Anne Hovorka from Nipigon, ON Canada
I have bought this, followed the directions to a T. It works the way it should with water flow, however, just as my seeds start to sprout, they rot. It smells brutal. I have tried it 3 different times. Even bought high end distilled water. It is just awful. I'll go back to growing in trays. A waste of seed and money.

5 of 5 Great sprouter! June 26, 2019

I have been using this to sprout all varieties of sprouting seeds. Works great, simple to use, several trays means you can stagger your sprouting so you don't run out of sprouts, great aeration, easy to rinse and easy to clean. Highly recommended.

4 of 5 A Few Things .... May 31, 2015
Reviewer: Gabi Voigt from Mississauga, ON Canada
I've been using this for 3 years.  It does a good job (personal preference over jar or bag method).

I feel it's not great for really small seeds such as mustard, alfalfa, clover, etc., as they get 'stuck' in the ridges within the unit.

Also when you water and let the trays drain, the seeds have a tendency to flow to the drainage filter. I find myself having to unplug the filter several times to let it drain properly, and end up standing there for about 10 minutes to make sure it drains properly.

My final complaint is I have a personal thing about the manufacturer saying you don't need to water for 4-5 days.  I am not comfortable with this as the sprouter builds up humidity and it just sits there.  I rinse daily.

Would I recommend this little beauty?  Yes.  It takes up little space and it does work.  I just feel that people need to be made aware of some of the problems they may encounter.

All in all, it is worth getting if you want to keep a supply of sprouts on hand.

5 of 5 Easy and awesome February 11, 2014
Reviewer: Elysa Rabinowitz from Byng Inlet, ON Canada
I have been using my biosta sprouter for about a month now and love it!  I start a tray every 2 days or so and I have been eating healthy sprouts every day with no mess, no fuss!!  I would highly recommend this product - kids can do it - it would make a neat classroom project
