Description

Teff Grain - Brown - (Raw, Pesticide Free) Various Sizes Available. Use the drop down menu to choose various quantities. Brown teff has a very mild nut like flavour, with a hint of subtle chocolate and a moist texture similar to millet, yet different. Tinier than a poppy seed, teff is packed with nutrition. Because of its small size, the grain cannot be separated into germ, bran and endosperm to make by-products. Although this creates some disadvantages for the grain, it allows teff to yield a much higher fiber content than other grains. Teff is also an excellent source of fiber and iron, and has many times the amount of calcium, potassium and other essential minerals found in an equal amount of other grains. Gluten Free? Teff is naturally a gluten-free grain, however this product is not certified gluten free. This means that the facilities that store and/or package the teff are not certified gluten free as other products containing gluten may be stored in/packaged there as well. A 2-ounce serving of teff has 7 grams of protein. Teff is low in fat (1 gram per 2-ounce serving), and high in fiber (8 grams per 2-ounce serving). Teff is a good source of niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, copper, manganese, boron, phosphorous and potassium. For Cooking: Great in oatmeal/porridge, stews, stuffing, and pilaf. Try it on its own or mixed with other grains, vegetables or fruits. Add seasoning to taste. Cook 1 cup teff with 3 cups water - usually ready in about 20min. From sweet to savoury experiment with different herbs and seasonings. Also great for baking! Throw some grain into blender and mill to a coarse flour (if you do not have a grain mill) and make some cool crusts, muffins, pancakes, breads, or cookies. For uncooking: Great to use in crackers, cookies, breads, crusts. Makes a great raw porridge especially used with cinnamon, cardamom or cloves. Sold in the following sizes: 1lb, 5lb, 10lb

5 of 5 Teff Grain July 5, 2021
Reviewer: Eva Cabaca from Richmond Hill, ON Canada
Excellent quality for a very soft satisfying porridge or pudding.  Cook with 4 times the volume of water.  Pre-soaking overnight highly recommended.  Then, bring it to boil, turn off the heat, let sit for about half hour and finish the cooking as needed.  This way, no mixing or monitoring necessary.
