Heavy Duty Twin Gear Technology Features
 
These five important features are found exclusively in the Green Star Juice Extractor which uses the Heavy Duty Twin Gear Juicing system. Those smaller twin-gear Juicers which use dual-gear juicing system do not have these features.

1. Nylon Safety Buffer

 The Green Star's Twin Gears are made mostly of stainless steel and have nylon elements that play a very important safety role. The nylon serves as a crucial element of the high-quality design of the Green Star by creating a buffer between the gears to ensure that the two metal gears do not come in contact with each other. When the HD Twin Gears rotate against each other, the stainless steel portions are separated by 4/1000 of an inch apart at all times due to the nylon safety buffer, which is slightly larger in diameter than the rest of the Twin Gears. Green Star was developed with this feature in order to prevent any stainless-steel shavings from inadvertently entering into the juice or the pulp.The nylon portions of the Twin Gears were also designed to protect the motor. During the juicing process, a great deal of pressure is created inside the juicing chamber. This pressure is released as pulp is ejected from the unit. If the gears were made entirely of stainless steel, excess strain could be placed on the motor during the juicing process. Although the HD Twin Gears were designed to be extremely durable, the nylon may sometimes crack as a protective measure in situations in which an extreme amount of pressure is created during the juicing process. Although this results in gears that need to be replaced, the cracking relieves the pressure that would have otherwise been exerted on the turning motor. As a result, gears made entirely of stainless steel would not allow this emergency pressure release to occur, diminishing the usable life span of the motor, or even possibly causing it to burn out - leading to even costlier repairs and diminished performance.
Our commitment to safety and quality has led us to continue with the original design of the HD Twin Gears. The nylon portion not only prevents any stainless steel from being introduced into your juice or pulp, but also ensures that your Green Star Juice Extractor will operate for many years.

2. Exclusive Magnetic & Bioceramic Technology
The Green Star exclusively features magnetic and bioceramic technology in its Twin Gear juicing system that allows it to extract juice of higher nutritional content. The magnets create a focused magnetic field that rearranges clusters of water so that it can latch on to more the valuable vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients and extract it into your juice. The bioceramic material inside the Twin Gears utilize the kinetic energy of the turning gears to emit far-infrared - the wavelength at which water and all organic material naturally oscillates. This has a stabilizing effect on your juice by delaying oxidation and allows your extracted juice to remain fresher longer. Independent laboratories have done extensive testing on the juice yielded from the Green Star and compared it with other leading juicing technologies and have found that the juice coming from the Green Star's Twin Gear juicing system was of superior nutritional content and had important characteristics lengthening the stability of the juice and its enzyme activity. 3. Pocket Recesses
 The teeth of the Twin Gears featured in the Green Star Juice Extractor were designed with special pocket recesses to aid in processing hard vegetables like carrots. The pocket recesses create a sharper edge at the initial grinding phase of the juicing process and reduces the amount of strain exerted by the Green Star's motor when processing harder produce .Imitation juicers have dual gears with flat teeth. As a result, they are less efficient at handling harder vegetables and require you to use more effort to push the vegetables through the juicer. This excess strain may also be transferred to the motor, possibly diminishing its useful life.
In contrast, the specially designed pocket recesses appearing on every tooth of the Twin Gears featured in the Green Star Juice Extractor simplifies the juicing process and ensures that the Green Star will last for many years.

4. Cutting Points
 The Green Star's Twin Gears have special cutting points on each of the gears that allow it to handle a wider variety of produce without jamming or clogging. Imitation juicers do not have these special cutting points on their dual gears, and may become tangled or clogged when processing certain types of vegetables. In fact, these problems have prompted some imitating brands to create an auto-reverse function to interrupt the juicing process if tangling should occur. However, don't be fooled into thinking that this feature is an improvement over the Green Star. The cutting points and pocket recesses of the Twin Gears ensure that the Green Star will not become tangled or jammed while juicing - making an auto-reverse function unnecessary, and undesirable. In fact, the auto-reverse function of imitation dual-gear juicers may inconveniently interrupt the juicing process when processing harder or stringy vegetables even when it is unnecessary.

5. Pressure Adjustment Mechanism
The Green Star allows you to easily adjust the amount of pressure that is required for pulp ejection in order to effectively handle a wider variety of produce without jamming or clogging. Different types of produce require a different amount of pressure within the juicing chamber in order to most be most efficiently processed. For example, harder vegetables like carrots require more pressure in order to squeeze the most amount of juice from the pulp, whereas wheat grass and other leafy greens require that less pressure be exerted in the juicing process. The Green Star allows you to adjust the amount of pressure without having to stop juicing - allowing you to use a wide variety of produce in one session for your maximum convenience. Other imitation dual-gear juicers do not have a pressure adjustment mechanism and are not as versatile as the Green Star. As a result, you may find that these imitation dual-gear juicers will often back up or clog when juicing certain varieties of produce.

1. There are magnets in the Green Star? Where are they? What do they do?

Yes, there are magnets in the Green Star juicer. At the core of each rotating twin gear is a series of in-line magnets. When the twin gears are properly aligned, the two series of magnets produce a focused magnetic field of 2600 gauss in the minute 4/1000 inch clearance between the twin gears. As juice flows through this focused magnetic field, the water molecule clusters within the juice are opened allowing them to recombine with minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium, and magnesium into new molecular structures. This magnetic process aids in extracting a greater percentage of mineral nutrients from the produce during the juicing process and is instrumental in keeping those minerals in a suspended colloidal form so the body can use for a longer length of time.
To better explain how the water molecule clusters open up and recombine, read below.
Each of the spheres in the cluster represents a water molecule. At the very center core of this cluster is space. That space could be occupied with a mineral, a speck of pesticide residue, a particle of impurity, or it could be vacant - we do not know. As this water cluster passes through the magnetic field, it is opened up, releasing whatever is in the interior. It may also be broken up into two smaller water clusters, each with a specific magnetic "draw" of its own (see Diagram 1).
Minerals in the produce you are juicing can now attach onto the water molecule cluster, forming a new mineral enriched molecular structure. Since, opposite poles attract, you can begin to see how more and different minerals now have an opportunity for molecular restructuring into the juice (see diagram 2).

2. Green Star juice keeps longer? Can you explain?

Certainly. There are many factors that influence the "keeping time" or stability of juice. We can take a look at these. First, however, let's understand what is meant by juice stability.
To get a very rough idea of what is meant by stability, let's look at a toy - the spinning top. When you first twist and drop it onto the flat surface, it stands up very straight and spins very fast. The longer it spins, however, the more it begins to wobble, doesn't stand so straight any more, spins more slowly, and eventually drops over onto its side and spins to a complete stop. Its spinning energy exhausted. At what point would you say the top is no longer stable?

  1. At the first sign of the first wobble?
  2. Sometime in the "middle" process when it becomes obvious that it is no longer standing straight? Or,
  3. When it falls over and comes to a skidding stop?

The water/mineral molecule, protein molecules, essential fatty acid molecules, etc. are just like that spinning top in that they spin for a certain length of time, then begin to wobble and eventually fall. We can measure miniscule molecular changes in the spin of the various types of molecules within the juice and can literally plot the "wobbly graph" of a mineral losing its stability long before anyone can detect any changes in taste, color or smell. This is the point we determine as loss of stability.
To allow the juice to remain stable longer, Green Star has been designed with some specific features, such as:

  1. Slow 110 rpm reduces heat build up in the juice and therefore, slows down the "aging process".
  2. The recombination of water/mineral molecules increasing the mineral content of the juice slows down the destabilizing process.
  3. Far infrared energy stabilizes the water molecule in the juice for a longer length of time.

An independent Fresh Squeezed Juice Stability Study was conducted, comparing carrot and apple juice that had been prepared in five different types of juicers. 3. I've heard that Green Star juicer puts more oxygen into the juice?
No. The unique technology used in the twin gears rearranges the oxygen and hydrogen atoms in the water molecules of the juice so that they are more efficient and effective in extracting more minerals from the produce you choose to juice.
 
4. How does Green Star juicer get the juice to taste so sweet?
By increasing the mineral content of the juice, its sweet natural flavor is enhanced. That unique twin gear technology is totally responsible for this great benefit.
 
5. From the Fresh Juice Stability Study, I learned that carrot...
Actually, there are two parts to this question. Let's take one at a time.
In the Fresh Juice Stability Study, one of the measurements used was the carbohydrate index. It measures complex, slower digesting, naturally occurring types of sugars and mineral content.
Diabetics and any other persons with metabolically related health problems should always check with their personal health professional when considering a change in diet.
If you choose to drink fresh squeezed juice, in whatever quantity is right for you, Green Star is the finest in quantity, mineral content and flavor with unequaled stability.
 
6. When I juice wheatgrass I get foam. Isn't foam oxidation?
Not in this case. Getting foam while juicing wheat grass is just like creating bubbles in soapy water by briskly moving your hand back and forth. It is a physical change, not a chemical change. One of the constituents of wheat grass is saponin, a natural sudsing agent.
 
7. The twin gears look very different than the augers or blades, how do they work?
There are so many questions here - let's address each one individually.
Yes, the twin gears are very unique to the juicing world. They are precisely what they claim to be - gears. Not blades, augers or rotors. The twin gears mesh together at a clearance of a mere 4/1000 of an inch to gently crush, squeeze, and grind the juice from the produce, much like your teeth do.
Those "cut out" places along the length of the gears serve different purposes. The recessed area along the gear length more easily accepts fibrous vegetables and herbs like carrots of stinging nettle. The actual "cut out" places are fantastic for cutting the stringy fibers found in celery and other long-fibered herbs. Those "cut out" places are what allow you to put a full-length stalk of celery into the Green Star without a jam or clog!
Cleaning the twin gears is easy and fast. Green Star provides a complimentary special brush that makes fast work of cleaning the gears after juicing. Hold the gears, one at a time, under running water, and brush it clean of food residue. Even celery fibers will brush away quickly.
The twin gears are gears - NOT blades. Because they are not blades, they are not sharp. They work in a totally different way. With proper use and care, the twin gears should last many years with no maintenance.
 
8. When I juice carrots, beet root, or other highly colored vegetables, how do I clean the stains?
When you have completed juicing, there is accumulation of pulp that you would discard. Turn the juicer back on and run some of this dischargeable pulp back through the unit, alternating with white, table sugar, until you have used about 1 cup of sugar. This polishes the twin gears and removes the stains. Then, turn the unit off and proceed with cleaning as usual.
There are also a number of things to keep in mind here
  • Do not use chlorine bleach on the twin gears. The ends of the gears are nylon. Chlorine attacks nylon.
  • Vegetable stains are on the inside of the machine where no one sees them
  • Vegetable stains are safe - chemical residues are not.
 
9. Is it okay to put the Green Star parts into the dishwasher?
No. Wash all the parts that are submersible in the kitchen sink using detergent and whatever temperature water you think is best.
 
10. I've heard that the Green Star juices slowly. Can you explain?
The Green Star juices at only 110 revolutions per minute. Other juicers revolve at many times that speed. We need to look at what speed does to juice. The faster the juicing mechanism rotates, the more heat is created in the juice and the faster the juice will oxidize or lose its nutritional value. We need the freshly squeezed juice to be as close as possible in temperature to the original temperature of fruit to preserve maximum nutritional value. In an independent study, juice from the Green Star gained only a bit over ½ of 1 degree F during the juicing process. Juice from four other juicers ranged from almost 3½ degrees to over 14 degrees F higher than the original temperature of the fruit.
It is the slower 110 revolutions per minute that aid in producing the sweetest, mineral enhanced juice you can only enjoy by using the Green Star. To juice a full 16 ounce glass of juice in the Green Star takes only a few seconds longer than in the leading masticating juicer and a full minute or more less than using the popular two-step method of grinding/squeezing.
 
11. I've heard that only negative ions are good for your health.
The Green Star juicer is not an ion generator. It does not generate positive or negative ions. The Green Star juicer simply opens up clusters of water molecules so the positively charged oxygen atom and the negatively charged hydrogen atom can recombine in a different molecular configuration with minerals within the fruit or vegetable you would like to juice.
 
12. Is it true that Green Star juicer is quieter than other juicers?
Yes. In a recent test comparing four leading types of juicers, Green Star was much more quiet than any of the other types tested. (Test data is available upon request.)
 
13. Does the Green Star really produce more juice?
Yes. In two separate and independent tests, using different types of produce, the Green Star produced up to 25% more juice than other juicers did. Both tests compared the Green Star machine to several types: masticating, centrifugal and the two-step method.
 
14. More juice? - that's great! How does Green Star do it?
  1. The design and close alignment of the twin gears.
  2. Slow revolutions, allowing the food to be juiced again and again, removing a maximum amount of juice.
  3. Outlet adjusting knob allowing you to get all the juice possible from whatever you are juicing.

15. When do I change the pressure of the outlet adjusting knob?
  • If food seems to be "backing up" in the juicer, loosen the outlet adjusting knob ¼ turn and observe if the food begins to move through more smoothly. You may need to repeat this procedure.
  • The pulp seems to be too moist, after running the juicer for a full minute. Tighten the outlet adjusting knob a bit and run the pulp through the juicer again. You may need to repeat this procedure.
 
16. When I make frozen banana ice cream in the Green Star Juicer, how do I keep banana looking fresh?

Bananas definitely have a fragile color. To help retain the beautiful creamy color in the ice cream, try one of the following ideas:

  • After making the ice cream, but before dishing it up to serve, stir in a teaspoon or two of fresh lemon juice.
  • As you are freezing the bananas to make the ice cream, freeze a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice in an ice cube tray. As you are making the bananas into ice cream, add the lemon juice cube(s), near the end, blend thoroughly and then serve.
 
17. What are the twin gears made of?
The metal section of each twin gear is fine grade stainless steel. The end pieces are nylon.
 
18. I have a pacemaker. Is it safe with all the magnets and far infrared energy?
Absolutely. Although there are no special precautions necessary because of the pacemaker, use any piece of electrical equipment carefully, following all manufacturer's written instructions.
 
19. What is the difference between the Green Star and the Champion?

There are many differences. Let's take a closer look at them:

  1. Green Star uses an extraction system of twin gears.
    Champion has one auger feed type mechanism.

23. How can I properly align the twin gear set?

Look at the ends of the twin gears that fit into the motor housing unit. One gear looks like a 12-pointed blunt-ended star with a depression in the center. The other gear has a white nylon, blunt-ended star pattern with a stainless steel cylinder protruding from the center.
Hold both gears at eye level, looking straight at the two star patterns. The stainless steel ended gear will have two (2) black dots - one on the end of two consecutive "star arms".
The nylon ended gear will have one (1) black dot on the end of one "star arm".
Place the two gears together so that the one black dot fits in between the two black dots - Now you have three dots in a row! Perfect alignment for maximum minerals!
Holding the twin gears together, with the black dots in alignment, place them into position on the Green Star juicer.
 
24. How can I check to see if there are magnets in the twin gears?
Place a steel paper clip on a flat surface. Hold either twin gear down close over the paper clip. The gear will magnetically attract and "pick up" the paper clip.
 
25. " 2600 gauss" - is this harmful?
Not at all. Our earth operates in a natural magnetic field. Medicine uses magnetic fields for diagnostics (MRI), and in healing broken bones.
You are probably concerned with the electromagnetic frequencies (EMF). Recently, Green Star tested the four leading types of juicers for electromagnetic field emissions. Green Star's emissions were less than 1/2 of the next lowest juicer - only 21 milliGauss
 

26. What is far infrared? Is it safe?

Far infrared is energy. It is the natural, resonant frequency range of water and all organic matter - even humans. The wavelength of infrared energy is between 0.7 microns and 1000 microns, just beyond the frequency range of visible light.
And, one part of this range is 5 to 15 microns, which is far infrared. Far infrared energy waves are the safest and most beneficial energy source available. We like to call it the "Life Force Frequency".
 
27. How does the far infrared energy affect the juice?
The water molecules in juice want to resonate at their natural tempo. However, the juicing process can be a bit rough on the water molecules, making them a bit unstable.
By reminding them of their natural resonant frequency, it restabilizes the water molecules. You could possibly compare this process with playing “the mother's heartbeat” to an infant - it soothes and calms the baby. In the case of juice, it stabilizes the juice for a longer period of time.
 
28. What is this bioceramic technology? Where is it located on the twin gears?
Actually, bioceramic technology is a process - that of producing far infrared energy. The word "bioceramic" refers to the unique powdered material that is securely sealed around the series of in-line magnets at the core of each of the twin gears. As the gears rotate during the juicing process, the bioceramic material converts that mechanical energy into the beneficial far infrared energy.
Yes, both the bioceramic technology and the material are very safe.
 
29. How do you know there are more minerals in the juice?
An independent test showed that juice extracted from a combination of celery and green leafy vegetables contained:

30. What maintenance does the Green Star juicer require?

32. What is this bioceramic material?
The exact formulation for the bioceramic material used in the construction of the Green Star twin gears is a trade secret. However, there are naturally occurring types of bioceramic material - bentonite and diatomaceous earth that are both safe and used regularly in the food industry.
 
33. How do I install the Plastic Speed Reducer (Face Plate)?
  1. Remove all attachments from the machine and unscrew knobs at end of latching arms.
  2. Carefully peel off "TWIN GEAR" sticker ( for Green Power Juicer only).
  3. Unscrew 2 small screws in each latching arm, be careful not to lose any (for Green Power Juicer only).
  4. Unscrew 3 or 4 screws in face place.
  5. Pull out old face plate. (Please observe how the latching arms are positioned in the motor front plate and the flat side of the latching arms face outside)
  6. Remove bushing (white and orange color) from old face plate by pushing it out of the face plate.(this is the part that the "male" gear fits into)
  7. Position bushing onto motor. Line up the bushing with the appropriate groove.
  8. Check that all seals are installed? Clean up motor shaft if necessary. Slightly grease drive shaft.
  9. Install face plate by following above instructions in reverse order.

The juicer is efficient ,relatively quiet & provides great quality of juice . The only drawback is that in order to find out all the things this machine is capable of you have to troll the Internet & Utube for instructions . There are basic instructions with the machine but the instruction manual is for separate purchase
