What is Fettuccine?
is a type of pasta that has a flat thick noodle, more commonly made
from egg and flour. Many people are unable to eat pasta made from these
ingredients whether due to diet, health, or allergies. Fortunately,
pasta does not need to be made from these ingredients, and that is where
this awesome new product comes into the scene.
What is the taste?
is relative to the person's taste buds of course. However, based on our
own taste buds, this Fettuccine tastes kind of like, well... - old
school pasta. We personally cannot really tell any difference between
what we remember our traditional flour based pasta tasted like when we
were kids and this great product. We found it is easy on the digestion
too, which is peculiar for a bean based food. While digestion varies
greatly with each individual, we have found personally that it does not
create havoc on the digestion for us.
Note: Out of the bag they
taste like traditional spaghetti noodles too, and they are crunchy and
actually somewhat addictive as a snacky food. It could be the taste buds
here, but we couldn't stop eating them out of the bag.
*Is it Raw?
we do know is that the manufacturer processes the product around the
120 degree mark. This is basically borderline for being classified as
'Raw'. Some believe it to be 115 degrees while others insist that it is
120 degrees. The truth is that different foods degrade or lose nutrients
at different rates and degrees, but generally speaking the range for
most foods is between 115-120 degrees. Ultimately it is your own
decision as to what you classify it. We classify it as a Raw food and
prepare it without 'cooking'.
How to prepare?
course you can add your own broth or sauces cooked or raw to the
noodles or use them however you wish. Here is how to prepare just the
overnight 1-2 days or until softens. We have put very warm filtered
water over the noodles and they soften up quite a bit right away, but
not completely soft like a cooked noodle, they are a bit chewy still, so
the soak time is needed. UPDATE: We have found that hotter (not boiling) water with the pink salt
sitting covered really softens them up to the point that everyone thinks
they are cooked, they are that soft.
Cooked: Boil 8 cups of water, simmer until cooked through or softened. Immediately rinse with cold running water.
