Its powerful properties have been known throughout the ages in
medieval times, sage was added to food to prevent spoilage. Since sage
is rich in antioxidants this accounts for it being a great food
preservative. Four times higher in calcium than cheese and nearly 500 mg
per 100 grams of magnesium makes this spice quite dense in minerals.
