This is a classic Hawaiian sea salt with a lovely dark red color. The
red hue comes from small amounts of Alaea (clay) that is rich in iron
oxide. This clay has legendary medicinal benefits. The salt is harvested
by hand and is in coarse grind size. It is packaged in a Kosher
Certified Facility and contains no additives or fillers.
Use this as a finishing or seasoning salt in native Hawaiian dishes,
such as Poke and Kalua Pig. On top of a crisp salad, this salt will add
an earthiness, although the flavor is very mellow, and an additional
layer of texture. Use this as a salt to roast a whole fish – way yum!
